Srinagar, Apr 2 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has assumed control of the Ziyarat Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arfeen (RA) and its allied properties located at Gundpora Rampora, Nadihal, in Bandipora district, under the directions of its Chairperson, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi.

The action follows a series of public complaints regarding the functioning and administration of the revered shrine. Responding swiftly, the Waqf Board constituted a team of officials to take over the shrine’s administrative and financial management.

Officials noted that the shrine had been under the control of private individuals for several decades, against whom repeated complaints had been received.

In parallel with the takeover, the Board has ordered a comprehensive audit of the shrine’s financial dealings and associated properties to ensure transparency, accountability and proper utilisation of resources.

The Board stated that the move aims to safeguard the sanctity of the Ziyarat and streamline its management in accordance with established Waqf regulations. It reiterated its commitment to addressing public grievances and maintaining high standards of governance across all religious institutions under its jurisdiction.

Local residents and devotees have welcomed the decision, expressing hope that the intervention will result in improved facilities and more efficient administration at the shrine. (JKNS)
