Anantnag, Mar 30 (JKNS): The Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag, has ordered the immediate suspension of MRI services at Care Plus Diagnostic Centre in Anantnag over serious allegations of misrepresentation and non-compliance with patient safety norms.

According to the order, as per news agency JKNS, the action follows a grievance regarding misleading claims about MRI facilities at the centre. A subsequent inspection by a designated team revealed that the installed MRI machine was a 1.5 Tesla unit, contrary to the 3 Tesla system being projected to patients, amounting to material misrepresentation.

The inspection team also found critical deficiencies in emergency preparedness, including the absence of essential resuscitation equipment such as an AMBU (bag-valve-mask) and non-availability of a qualified anesthetist at the time of inspection.

Taking serious note of these violations, the Chief Medical Officer ordered that all MRI services at the facility be stopped with immediate effect. The centre has been directed to cease all related diagnostic procedures until further orders.

The order further warned that any violation will attract strict legal and penal action under applicable laws, emphasizing that the decision has been taken in the larger public interest to ensure patient safety and uphold clinical standards. (JKNS)
