Tangdhar, March 25:(JKNS) In a major humanitarian outreach initiative under Operation Sadbhavana, the Indian Army has organised a four-day Eye, Medical, and Dental Camp, along with a Blood Donation Drive, in Tangdhar from March 24 to 27, 2026.

The camp is being conducted by the Field Surgical Centre (Ex-328 Field Hospital) under the aegis of 104 Infantry Brigade, in collaboration with 92 Base Hospital. The initiative aims to provide quality healthcare services to troops, their families, and civilians residing in this remote and operationally challenging region.

On the second day of the camp, a total of 252 beneficiaries availed medical services. Of these, 134 individuals underwent eye screening, including 44 males and 90 females. Notably, 46 patients were identified for cataract surgery.

In addition, 118 beneficiaries received treatment at the Medical and Dental OPD, comprising 62 males, 50 females, and 6 children. The camp has played a crucial role in identifying patients requiring specialised care, particularly in ophthalmology, while also addressing general medical and dental needs.

As part of the initiative, a Blood Donation Drive was also conducted successfully. A dedicated team from SDH Kupwara, along with personnel from BTA and 328 Field Hospital, ensured smooth coordination. A total of 19 donors participated, including 13 civilians and 6 Army personnel, reflecting strong civil-military cooperation and a shared sense of service.

The camp has received an encouraging response from the local population and underscores the Indian Army’s continued efforts to improve access to essential healthcare in remote border areas. Such initiatives not only provide immediate medical assistance but also foster trust and goodwill between the Army and the community.

The event was visited by Maj Gen Giriraj Singh, MG Med, Headquarters Northern Command, who interacted with patients and commended the medical team for delivering specialised healthcare services under challenging conditions.

The initiative highlights the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to public welfare, community outreach, and nation-building, particularly in far-flung and underserved regions.(JKNS)
