According to local residents, the concerned STD Department has failed to respond despite the matter being brought to its notice several times. They said the delay has caused serious inconvenience to the public and has slowed down an important developmental project in the area.

When contacted, officials from the R&B Division Beerwah said that the work had to be stopped because of the transmission line located on that side of the bridge site. They further stated that two letters had already been forwarded to the concerned STD Department, but no response has been received so far.

Residents of Beerwah have expressed disappointment over the prolonged halt in work and appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Budgam and the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir to personally intervene in the matter and ensure that the issue is resolved at the earliest so that work on the bridge can resume without further delay.

Locals said the Bailey Bridge is of great public importance, and any unnecessary delay in its completion is affecting daily movement and causing hardships to commuters. (JKNS)
