Srinagar, Mar 19 (JKNS): The crescent moon marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan was not sighted on Thursday evening, and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

Grand Mufti J&K Nasir-ul-Islam confirmed to news agency JKNS that no credible reports of the Shawwal moon sighting were received from any part of the region.

With this, the holy month of Ramadan will complete 30 days, and Muslims across the Valley will celebrate Eid with traditional fervour and religious enthusiasm on Saturday.

Mufti Nasir extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and prayed for peace and prosperity.

Special prayers (Eid namaz) will be offered at Eidgahs and mosques, while people are continuing preparations for the festival, including shopping and arrangements for gatherings.

Authorities have also put in place necessary arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of prayers and celebrations across the Union Territory. (JKNS)
