Shopian, Mar 15 (JKNS): Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti Shopian, in collaboration with the Department of Health, organized a Capacity Building Programme for ASHA Workers under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative at the Mini Secretariat Shopian on Saturday.

The programme aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of ASHA workers who play an important role in promoting maternal and child health, nutrition awareness, and preventive healthcare at the grassroots level.

On the occasion, the Chief Medical Officer Shopian, Arshid Hussain Tak highlighted the vital role of ASHA workers in strengthening healthcare delivery in rural and remote areas.

He appreciated their dedication in spreading awareness about maternal health, institutional deliveries, immunization, and child care.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Shopian, Nazir Ahmad also addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of continuous training for frontline health workers.

He encouraged ASHA workers to promote safe motherhood practices and awareness about the importance of protecting and educating the girl child in line with the objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.

CHO Hermain shared insights on community health initiatives and emphasized the importance of coordination between health workers and community institutions to ensure that government health schemes reach the intended beneficiaries.

The Gender Specialist from Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti Shopian sensitized participants about gender equality, women’s rights, and awareness about government welfare schemes for women and girls. (JKNS)
