DLSA Shopian holds 1st National Lok Adalat of 2026 at District court

Five benches settle 169 cases, ensuring speedy and amicable justice for litigants

Shopian, Mar 15 (JKNS): District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian on Saturday organized the 1st National Lok Adalat of the year 2026 at the District Court Complex Shopian.

The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Shopian, Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary, in the presence of judicial officers and advocates of District Court Shopian.
For the conduct of the National Lok Adalat, five benches were constituted by the DLSA Shopian.

Besides advocates, a large number of litigants and prominent citizens participated in the proceedings.

The first bench was presided over by Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Shopian along with Adv. Mubashir Ahmad Gatoo.

The second bench was presided over by Mudasar Farooq, Secretary DLSA Shopian, along with Adv. Iftikhar Ahmad.

The third bench was presided over by Mohd. Waseem Mirza, Munsiff/JMIC Shopian along with Adv. Parvaiz Ahmad Malik.

The fourth bench was presided over by Rameen Rashid Khan, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Shopian along with Adv. Irfan Bashir.
The fifth bench was presided over by Anjum Bashir Khan, Tehsildar Shopian along with Adv. Shahnawaz Raina.

During the Lok Adalat, a total of 346 cases related to recovery suits, traffic challans, civil cases, MACT cases, matrimonial disputes, criminal compoundable matters and other civil disputes were taken up for consideration.

Out of these, 169 cases were amicably settled on the spot,resulting in a total settlement amount of Rs 81,53,361, thereby providing speedy and cost-effective justice to the litigants. (JKNS)
