New Delhi, Feb 27 (JKNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled an expansive reform agenda and instructed his Cabinet ministers to prepare detailed action plans outlining proposed initiatives within their respective ministries for the coming years.

The move is part of the government’s renewed push to streamline procedures, enhance ease of doing business, and strengthen technology-driven governance under the ‘Reform Express’ programme, official sources told news agency JKNS.

Ministers have been asked to personally draft the reform notes and present them during Union Cabinet meetings, detailing both past achievements and future priorities.

Sources said the Cabinet Secretariat has circulated a structured format specifying how ministries should document upcoming reform measures, timelines for implementation, and anticipated outcomes, along with a summary of key accomplishments in recent years.

According to sources, the Prime Minister has emphasised that every ministry must immediately identify and focus on its core reform priorities to ensure tangible results on the ground. The initiative forms part of the Centre’s larger roadmap aimed at transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.

In an interview with a news agency recently, Modi said the government’s ‘Reform Express’ has significantly benefited citizens and outlined three broad reform thrust areas for the next decade — sustained structural reforms to enhance competitiveness and productivity, deeper innovation across technology, manufacturing and services, and further simplification of governance systems.

When asked to name three key economic reforms for the coming decade, the Prime Minister responded that the direction is clear and not limited to a fixed number. “First, we will continue structural reforms that boost competitiveness and productivity. Second, we will deepen innovation in technology, manufacturing and services. Third, we will simplify governance further so that citizens and businesses can function with greater ease and trust,” he said.

Addressing a post-Budget webinar on ‘Technology, Reforms and Finance for Viksit Bharat’ on Friday, Modi stressed that collaboration among government, industry and knowledge partners ensures that reforms deliver concrete outcomes. He proposed the creation of a “Reform Partnership Charter” to institutionalise cooperation between government, industry, financial institutions and academia, calling it a vital step toward achieving the Viksit Bharat goal by 2047.

Earlier, while speaking at a conference of Chief Secretaries in December 2025, the Prime Minister remarked that India has embarked on the ‘Reform Express’, driven primarily by the country’s youth and demographic strength, reaffirming the government’s commitment to empowering this demographic dividend.
