Discussions focused on strengthening the efforts towards comprehensive welfare of the veteran community including veer naris, war widows and their wards with emphasis on rehabilitation, resettlement and healthcare.

While the Zila Sainik Board officers presented their contributions in their respective areas including the challenges faced, the Army Commander pledged to extend all necessary support through local formations and reassured that Indian Army would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Zila Sainik Boards to ensure that NO ex-serviceman and his family is left behind. Some of the key areas identified to integrate veterans in Nation Building efforts include entrepreneurship promotion, building a bridge between civil administration and veteran community for harnessing their experiences in social initiatives, youth engagement and as first responders during emergencies.

This unique initiative by Dhruva Command will bring in a paradigm shift in welfare of veterans of UT of J&K. It resonates with the Indian Army’s vision for the veteran community, commitment to their families and their contribution towards Nation building. (JKNS)
