Speaking at the inauguration, the DC said, “Those affected by the drug menace and in need of rehabilitation and counselling can visit the centre and register themselves. We are committed to providing complete treatment facilities, including IPD services and other necessary support.”

The facility currently has a capacity of six beds, with plans to enhance its capacity in the future. It is the second rehabilitation centre in Baramulla district, after the one already operational in Baramulla town.

Among those present on the occasion were ADC Sopore S.A. Raina (JKAS), SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib (JKPS), ACD Baramulla Mudasir Choudhary (KAS), Tehsildar Sopore Sheikh Tariq (KAS), CMO Baramulla, District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla, BMO Sopore, and other officials.

Locals welcomed the initiative, stating that many youth involved in drug abuse and their families had been suffering due to the non-availability of rehabilitation facilities in the area. They appreciated the efforts of the district administration and police in establishing the centre.

The opening of the facility is being seen as a significant move towards strengthening the fight against drug addiction in the region. (JKNS)
