Jammu, Feb 7 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLA Tariq Hamid Karra on Saturday pointed to serious gaps in the execution of the previous budget, stating that delayed release and utilisation of funds had led to widespread public resentment.

Talking to reporters outside the Assembly complex in Jammu, Karra said that while budget announcements create expectations, failure in implementation erodes public trust.

He recalled that the last budget suffered from prolonged delays in fund allotment, which prevented timely execution of developmental works and left people dissatisfied across regions.

Expressing hope for improvement, the Congress leader said the government must ensure better coordination and faster execution this time so that budgetary promises reach the ground without delay.

Karra also referred to allocations under the SASKI head, stating that the figure stands at around ₹1,450 crore and clarified that it does not fall under grant-in-aid.

“As per my understanding, the government receives approximately ₹1,450 crore under this head in multiple instalments,” he said, while stressing the importance of clarity in financial disclosures.

He emphasised that transparency, prompt fund release and efficient utilisation are essential to ensure that public money translates into real benefits for citizens. (JKNS)
