Anantnag, Dec 30 (JKNS): In a strong action against forest-related crimes, Larnoo Police achieved a major breakthrough by arresting two timber smugglers involved in the illegal cutting of forest trees in the Kherpeth forest area, seizing illicit timber and tools used in the offence, officials said.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, Larnoo Police achieved a significant success in curbing forest-related offences by arresting two timber smugglers involved in the illegal cutting of forest trees in the Kherpeth forest area.

Police Station Larnoo received specific and credible information regarding the involvement of two individuals, namely Adil Ahmad Padder S/o Gh Mohi din Padder R/o Larnoo, and Rayees Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ab Salaam Sheikh R/o Kherpeth, in illegal forest activities, it reads.

Acting swiftly on the information, a case FIR No. 42/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Larnoo. During the course of investigation, a police party conducted a raid at the identified location in the Kherpeth forest area, it reads.

During the raid, the police recovered five (05) logs of Kail timber which had been illegally cut from the forest. Both accused persons were apprehended on the spot, and a hand saw used for cutting the trees was also seized, reads the statement. (JKNS)
