He said that significant upgrades have recently been carried out to cater to educational requirements, sports infrastructure and health-related activities, adding that the Abhinandan School project stands out as a landmark and priority initiative for Srinagar.

Labroo said that all concerned line departments are working in close coordination to ensure smooth and timely execution of the projects. These departments include Roads and Buildings, Power Development, Jal Shakti, Revenue, Police, Planning and the Social Welfare Department.

He said that while the official completion timeline for the Abhinandan School project is 2027, efforts are being made to complete it ahead of schedule without compromising on quality.

Outlining priorities for the year 2026, Labroo said the administration’s focus will remain on completing all approved development projects across Srinagar.

He stressed that projects with sanctioned funds must not be left incomplete midway. He also highlighted the importance of improving last-mile connectivity, completing pending infrastructure works, easing traffic congestion and ensuring optimal utilisation of land while preventing encroachments.

Expressing concern over the recent spike in fire incidents in Srinagar city, the Deputy Commissioner urged residents to strictly adhere to safety advisories issued by the administration.

He advised people to get their electrical systems and appliances audited and ensure that sanctioned electrical load matches actual consumption.

He cautioned against negligent use of electrical equipment and warned that storing dry grass and other flammable material near residential structures significantly increases the risk of fire.

Labroo appealed to the public to promptly inform authorities in case of any incident so that Fire and Emergency Services can respond without delay. (JKNS)
