The development is expected to significantly strengthen the supply chain, stabilise food availability, and provide a major boost to local markets and farmers by reducing transportation costs and delays.

Authorities further informed that 42 additional wagons carrying approximately 2,600 metric tonnes of foodgrains are scheduled to arrive soon, which will further enhance food security and support regional economic growth.

The arrival of the freight train has been termed a landmark achievement in improving logistics, connectivity and essential supplies in the Kashmir Valley. (JKNS)
