MET Predicts Moderate Snow from Dec 20 in J&K Parts

Srinagar, Dec 18 (JKNS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast a spell of cloudy weather with chances of light to moderate snow and rain across parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days.

Director Meteorological Department Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, as per news agency JKNS, said that from December 18 to 19, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with the possibility of very light snowfall at isolated higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir.

He said that on December 20 and 21, the region may witness generally cloudy conditions, with the possibility of light to moderate snowfall over higher reaches of the Kashmir division, while plains of Jammu and Kashmir may receive light to moderate rain, particularly from late night of December 20 to the afternoon of December 21. December 22 is expected to remain generally cloudy with light rain or snow at scattered places, while December 23 to 29 will see partly to generally cloudy weather. On December 30 and 31, there is a possibility of light snowfall at isolated higher reaches.

Issuing an advisory, the Meteorological Department cautioned that some higher reaches of Kupwara, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts may receive moderate to heavy snowfall, especially on December 21. Travellers and transporters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and strictly follow traffic and administrative advisories. (JKNS)
