Srinagar, Dec 13 (JKNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday handed over appointment letters to family members of victims of terrorism at a programme held at Lok Bhavan Auditorium, Srinagar, reiterating the administration’s firm resolve to stand with those who have suffered due to terror violence.

Addressing the gathering, the LG Sinha as per news agency JKNS said the government is committed to ensuring justice, rehabilitation and a dignified life for every terror-affected family in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the initiative to provide government jobs to such families began around 13 months ago after several victims’ families from the Kashmir division met him and narrated their ordeals.

“These families had endured unimaginable pain for years. Their suffering could not be ignored. We decided to identify genuine cases and provide them support through government employment,” Sinha said.

He informed that on Saturday, 39 families from the Kashmir division were handed appointment letters, while 41 families had earlier received job letters in Jammu. He added that nine families affected by the recent Nowgam blast were also provided appointment letters on Friday evening. “So far this year, more than 200 members from terror-affected families have been provided government jobs,” he said.

Recalling interactions with victims, the LG said many families were left to fend for themselves for decades after losing their loved ones to terrorism. “Some children grew up as orphans, some families lost their homes and livelihoods, yet no one came forward to help them. This injustice is now being corrected,” he said.

Sinha also announced that properties belonging to terror victims and their families, which were illegally taken away during years of turmoil, will be restored to rightful owners. “Even cases where FIRs were not registered will be examined. No deserving family will be left out,” he assured.

The Lieutenant Governor said that for a long time, the real victims of terrorism were ignored while those linked to the terror ecosystem enjoyed undue benefits. “This painful imbalance will not be allowed to continue. Those who supported or glorified terrorism will face strict consequences,” he said.

He said the administration has taken decisive steps over the past five years, including terminating government employees found to have links with terrorism. “We are dismantling the terror ecosystem completely. Anyone aiding or sympathising with terrorism will be identified and punished,” Sinha asserted.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the LG said Jammu and Kashmir will be made free from terrorism and its support network. “This is our responsibility to ensure peace and make sure no family suffers the way these families did,” he said.

The programme was attended by senior officials including Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg and families of terror victims. The LG concluded by stating that the government has moved beyond words to concrete action. “This initiative is not charity; it is a tribute to the sacrifice of those who lost their lives,” he said.
