Srinagar, Dec 09 (JKNS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA), assisted by Jammu & Kashmir Police and CRPF, on Tuesday carried out coordinated search operations in Anantnag’s Mattan forest belt as part of the ongoing investigation into the November 10 Red Fort blast in Delhi.

An official told news agency JKNS that the searches were initiated on the basis of vital disclosures made by two arrested accused in the case. Both suspects Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather and Jasir Bilal Wani were brought from Delhi to help investigators identify specific locations believed to hold evidentiary value.

“The duo led the teams to multiple points inside the forest area where investigators suspected possible hideouts or material linked to the blast. Certain items have been recovered and are currently under forensic assessment,” the official added.

Security forces also conducted simultaneous raids at Qazigund and another location in Anantnag, making it a three-site operation conducted through the day.

It is pertinent to mention that the Red Fort blast of November 10 resulted in 15 fatalities and left several others injured. The NIA continues to follow multiple leads to dismantle the wider network involved in the attack. (JKNS)
