Jammu, Nov 29 (JKNS): Pakistan has shifted more than 70 terror launchpads from forward positions to deeper locations within its territory following Operation Sindoor, senior Border Security Force (BSF) officials said on Saturday.

Addressing a press briefing in Jammu, BSF DIG Vikram Kunwar told reporters, as per news agency JKNS, that several launchpads along the International Border were destroyed during the May operation, compelling Pakistan to relocate these facilities further inside. “Nearly 12 launchpads continue to operate from depth zones in Sialkot and Zaffarwal, while around 60 have been moved to interior pockets away from the border,” he said.

DIG clarified that the presence of terrorists at these launchpads fluctuates. “These locations do not host permanent groups. They are activated only when infiltration attempts are planned. Typically, only two to three terrorists stay at a time,” Kunwar said, adding that no training camps currently exist close to the IB.

He also highlighted a major shift in Pakistan-based terrorist strategy post-Operation Sindoor. “Earlier, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba operated separately in designated areas. Now, their cadres are merged, and training is being conducted in mixed groups,” he said.

Meanwhile, BSF Inspector General Jammu Frontier, Shashank Anand, said the force remains fully prepared for any renewed action. “Be it the 1965 and 1971 wars, the Kargil conflict, or Operation Sindoor — the BSF has participated in every form of warfare. If the government directs Sindoor 2.0, we are ready and capable of inflicting even greater damage,” Anand asserted.

On Pakistani Rangers abandoning their posts during Operation Sindoor, the IG said their losses were substantial. “It took them considerable time to recover. They have reinforced some positions, but all their activities remain under close surveillance,” he said.

BSF officials added that operational strategies continue to be adjusted based on real-time conditions. “At present, no suspicious movement has been observed on the border indicating any infiltration attempt,” they said. (JKNS)
