New Delhi, Nov 23 (JKNS): General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Kaliyar has said that the ongoing combat exercise ‘Ram Prahar’ is aimed at sharpening India’s retaliatory capabilities in case of any fresh misadventure by the neighbouring country.

Speaking to reporters, Lt Gen Kaliyar, according to news agency JKNS, recalled that the Army had already inflicted “major damage” on the opponent during Operation Sindoor, adding that current preparations were focused on delivering an even sterner reply if compelled.

“We all know the kind of setback the enemy suffered in Operation Sindoor. There is also a possibility that they may attempt something again. As our leadership has reiterated if the enemy indulges in any wrongdoing or tries anything, the response will be far tougher than before. Ram Prahar is part of that preparedness,” he stated.

Earlier in the day, the Western Command chief performed a symbolic ceremony on the banks of the Ganga, seeking divine blessings before the commencement of the large-scale operational drill. “It is believed that invoking Mother Ganga before beginning any task brings strength and clarity. We consider her blessings with us as we move forward with this exercise,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Army said it had recorded notable progress in its indigenisation efforts under the ongoing ‘Year of Technology Absorption,’ further reducing dependency on foreign-sourced defence platforms. (JKNS)
