Shopian, Nov 18 (JKNS): The Municipal Council Shopian has issued a public notice directing all business establishments, shops, vendors, and commercial units within its jurisdiction to immediately remove encroachments from public spaces, including footpaths, roads, and pavements.

The notice, issued by the Chief Executive Officer (Executive Magistrate) as per news agency JKNS, highlights that encroachments obstruct pedestrian movement, force people into vehicular lanes, and constitute misuse of public infrastructure for private gain.

All commercial units have been strictly instructed to refrain from placing goods, signboards, or any material outside the permissible area, ensure unobstructed pedestrian movement, and comply with the ban on polythene as per environmental regulations.

The Council warned that failure to comply will invite strict action under relevant municipal laws, including fines, seizure of encroached material, and possible sealing of the violating establishments.

The move comes in the interest of public safety, accessibility, and environmental protection. (JKNS)
