Sopore, Oct 20 (JKNS): A 20-year-old youth lost his life and another was injured after a truck hit them near Badambagh Crossing, close to the Fruit Mandi area of Sopore, on Monday evening.
An official told news agency JKNS that the truck, bearing registration number JK02BW-2197, was on its way from Srinagar to Sopore Fruit Mandi when the accident took place.
The deceased has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Wani, son of Wazeer Ahmad Wani, aged 20, a resident of Saidpora Sopore, while the injured, Shahid Ahmad Shah, son of Hilal Ahmad Shah, aged 25, a resident of Nadihal Rafiabad, was initially taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore and later referred to Barzulla, Srinagar for advanced treatment, the official added.
Confirming the incident, SSP Sopore Iftikhar Talib said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the mishap. (JKNS)
