NMC Approves 50 More MBBS Seats for GMC Anantnag, Raising Capacity to 150

Anantnag, Oct 17 (JKNS): In a major development, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved and notified the addition of 50 more MBBS seats for Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, raising the total intake capacity from 100 to 150 seats.

As per news agency JKNS, The new seats will be available for admissions from the current academic year itself.

Principal GMC Anantnag, Professor Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, expressed her gratitude to Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid, for his consistent guidance and efforts that led to this achievement. “The expansion reflects the government’s commitment to improving medical education and healthcare infrastructure in South Kashmir,” she said.

Faculty and staff members of GMC Anantnag lauded Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb for her persistent leadership and dedicated efforts in securing the approval. It was noted that she personally visited the NMC office in New Delhi three times over the past few months to address all queries and ensure the proposal’s success.

Senior citizens and members of the civil society from South Kashmir also congratulated the principal and the college administration for this milestone, describing it as a proud moment for the region and a step forward in strengthening healthcare and educational opportunities in the valley. (JKNS)
