ECI Issues Schedule for Budgam and Nagrota Bye-Elections; Nominations Open Till October 20

Jammu, Oct 13 (JKNS): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced bye-elections for two vacant Assembly constituencies in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir 27-Budgam and 77-Nagrota to fill the seats left vacant.

According to the notification of ECI as per news agency JKNS, the bye-elections will be conducted under Section 150 and Sections 30 and 56 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951). The Commission has directed that the electoral process in both constituencies be completed before November 16, 2025.

As per the schedule, the last date for filing nominations is October 20, 2025 (Monday). The scrutiny of nominations will be held on October 22 (Wednesday), while October 24 (Friday) will be the last date for withdrawal of candidature. If necessary, polling will take place on November 11, 2025 (Tuesday), and the election process will conclude by November 16 (Sunday).

The polling hours have been fixed from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The notifications were issued by Suman Kumar Das, Secretary, Election Commission of India, and countersigned by Anil Salgotra, JKAS, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir. (JKNS)
