The order directs that any courier parcel or consignment containing drugs or pharmaceutical preparations must be cleared for delivery only after scrutiny and verification by an Inspector from the office of the Assistant Drug Controller. Furthermore, the Police Department has been instructed to conduct regular inspections of courier agencies to ensure strict compliance and detect any misuse of courier networks.

The ADM cautioned that any courier operator found involved directly or indirectly in drug trafficking will face strict action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and, in severe cases, provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in NDPS Act (PITNDPS) may also be invoked.

The circular makes it clear that any violation of these directives will attract stern legal action and that strict compliance from all courier service providers is mandatory. (JKNS)
