NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today welcomed the leadership of US President Donald Trump in advancing peace efforts in the Gaza region, stating that the indications of a potential hostage release represent a “significant step forward.”

In a post on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister commended the US President’s role as the peace efforts showed “decisive progress.”

“We welcome President Trump’s leadership as peace efforts in Gaza make decisive progress. Indications of the release of hostages mark a significant step forward,” Shri Modi wrote on X. The post also tagged the accounts of President Trump (@realDonaldTrump) and the President of the United States (@POTUS).

Shri Modi affirmed that the potential release of hostages is a crucial development in the ongoing humanitarian and diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.

Reiterating India’s consistent foreign policy stance, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that India “remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting all initiatives that contribute to a durable and just peace in the region.”

The Prime Minister’s welcoming statement comes amid international efforts to secure a comprehensive end to the hostilities in Gaza.
