New Delhi, Oct 2 (JKNS): India and China are set to restore direct flight operations later this month after a gap of nearly five years, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday.
Direct flights between the two nations were halted in early 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic and remained suspended amid tensions along the eastern Ladakh border.
According to the MEA, direct air connectivity between designated Indian and Chinese cities is expected to resume by late October, subject to commercial considerations by the airlines and compliance with all regulatory and operational protocols.
In line with this development, IndiGo has confirmed the resumption of daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou starting October 26.
The airline further revealed plans to launch direct services on the Delhi-Guangzhou route in the near future, pending regulatory clearance. (JKNS)
