Police Holds Awareness, Quiz Competition on New Criminal Laws at Yaripora, Kulgam

Kulgam, Sep 26 (JKNS): Police Station Yaripora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday organized an awareness-cum-quiz competition on the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023, aimed at educating students about the major shift in the criminal justice system.

As per news agency JKNS, The event was held at Green Valley Educational Institution Yaripora in Kulgam district, with the active involvement of SHO Yaripora and support from police personnel and resource persons from the District Police Headquarters.

Officials said the interactive sessions and quiz were designed to enhance students’ understanding of the new criminal laws, which replaced the Indian Penal Code 1860, Code of Criminal Procedure 1973, and Indian Evidence Act 1872 from July 1, 2024. The awareness drive underlined the importance of making the justice system more citizen-centric, technology-driven, and accessible. (JKNS)
