Srinagar, Sept 8 (JKNS): Director SKIMS and EOSG, Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie, on Monday said that revival of traditional practices like preparing home-cooked meals in well-set-up kitchens is vital for both healthy living and social bonding.

Speaking at an awareness programme on “Endometriosis, a Healthcare Crisis” organised by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at SKIMS Auditorium, Prof. Ganie as per news agency JKNS said, “As the Valley’s premier health institution, SKIMS has a greater responsibility to guide the community with scientifically backed knowledge and practices. We will soon launch Evening Speciality Clinics dedicated to such diseases to provide focused treatment, advance research, and develop updated protocols.”

He also described Endometriosis as a “benign malignancy” with devastating consequences for women’s health, while stressing the need for awareness in schools, colleges and among teachers.

Principal, Government College for Women, Prof. Yasmeen Farooq, who attended as special guest, said, “Women’s health, her pain, and her needs must not be brushed under the carpet. Greater priority must be accorded to women’s healthcare.” She called for more awareness programmes in colleges to sensitise young women on the issue.

Other experts including Dean Medical Faculty, Prof. G.M. Gulzar; Principal SKIMS Medical College, Prof. Fazal Q. Parray; and Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Prof. Farooq A. Jan, also spoke on the occasion, stressing advocacy, funding, and continuous awareness.

The programme featured detailed lectures on the psychological, radiological, and clinical aspects of Endometriosis, attended by senior faculty, researchers, resident doctors, and students from across the region. (JKNS
