Srinagar, Sep 1 (JKNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China, said terrorism poses a common challenge to humanity and India will continue to fight it uncompromisingly.

Addressing the SCO Summit, PM Modi as per news agency JKNS said, “Terrorism is a common challenge for humanity, and India has been fighting this menace for seven decades. We have seen the ugly face of terrorism recently in Pahalgam. We have to say clearly that there will be no compromise on terrorism. We have to condemn terrorism in all forms.”

PM Modi described the Pahalgam terror attack as “not just an attack on India’s soul but an open challenge to all countries that have faith in humanity. It raises a serious question that should a country openly supporting terrorism be acceptable to any of us? We all must fight and oppose terrorism in all its forms. It is our responsibility towards humanity.”

“Security, peace, and stability form the basis of any country’s development. Terrorism, separatism, and extremism are big challenges in this path. Terrorism is not just a challenge to the security of a country but a common challenge for all humanity. No country, society, or citizen can consider itself safe from it,” Prime Minister said.

PM Modi further said that, “India has emphasised unity in the fight against terrorism. We took the initiative against Al-Qaeda and associated terror organisations by leading the Joint Information Operation. We raised our voice against terror financing and I express gratitude for your support in it.”

“We have to say clearly and unanimously that no double standards are acceptable on terrorism,” PM Modi asserted, emphasizing the need for global consensus.

“This attack was an open challenge to every country and person who believes in humanity. In such a situation, it is natural to question whether open support of terrorism by some countries can be acceptable to us. We have to unanimously oppose terrorism in every form and colour. This is our duty towards humanity,” he added.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was present when Modi mentioned the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 innocents were killed. PM Modi thanked friendly nations for standing with India and stressed how “some countries openly support terrorism.”

“Today, India is moving ahead following the mantra of Reform, Perform and Transform. We have tried to turn every challenge into an opportunity. I invite all of you to be part of India’s development journey,” the Prime Minister said, concluding his remarks at the SCO session. (JKNS)
