The attachment is linked to an FIR registered at Police Station Doda against Shakeela Begum alias Taya, wife of Farooq Ahmed, resident of Sadiqabad. She was arrested earlier in the case as a prime supplier of drugs and is presently lodged in Bhaderwah Jail. According to police, she has been involved in at least four FIRs relating to the illegal trade of narcotics.

Senior Superintendent of Police Doda, Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), said the police are determined to break the backbone of the drug mafia by not just making arrests but also targeting their illegally acquired wealth.

“Our aim is to completely dismantle the ecosystem of drug trafficking. We will continue to take strict legal action against all those involved in this nefarious trade,” he said.

The SSP also appealed to the public, particularly youth, to stay away from drugs and to support police by sharing credible information about peddlers, assuring that the identity of informers will be protected, reads the statement. (JKNS)
