Srinagar, Aug 25 (JKNS): Union Minister and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh on Monday said that India’s dream of becoming the world’s leading economy can only be achieved with equal participation from both the private and public sectors. Speaking on the sidelines of the centenary celebrations of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) at SKICC Srinagar, Dr. Jitendra Singh as per news agency JKNS said, “First of all, I congratulate the Indian Chamber of Commerce for organising this event. This is one of the oldest chambers of the country, started exactly 100 years ago in Kolkata, which was then the capital under British rule. It carries its own history and legacy. Holding this event in Srinagar immediately after the Pahalgam incident also carries a message that this place remains as beautiful and vibrant as ever.” He added, “Since Prime Minister Modi has come to power, many businesses and trades have changed. For example, the private sector is getting full encouragement. We have even opened the nuclear sector to private participation this year. We believe that just as our country is moving forward at a rapid pace, our economy will move from fourth to third, third to second, and second to first position. This will only be possible when there is a collective vision of everyone, where private and public sectors are treated equally.” On being asked about demands for compensation from stakeholders in the tourism sector after the Pahalgam attack, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, “I am confident that the government of Jammu and Kashmir is already considering this matter and will continue to do so. At the same time, the overall public response and the presence of institutions like the Chamber here show that the situation is steadily moving back to normal.” (JKNS
