Heavy Rains Forecast: DC Kishtwar Issues Advisory, Urges Public Caution

Kishtwar, Aug 25 (JKNS): The District Administration Kishtwar on Monday issued a weather advisory following an alert by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), warning of intense rainfall with the possibility of cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides and mudslides in Jammu and Kashmir, including Kishtwar district, from August 25 to 29.

As per the advisory as per news agency JKNS, the public has been urged to avoid venturing near nallahs, riverbanks, flood-prone or waterlogged areas, keep emergency supplies ready, remain vigilant, and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in low-lying and vulnerable zones. People in susceptible areas have been advised to identify safer locations in consultation with local authorities.

All concerned departments including Revenue, PWD (R&B), PMGSY, Health & Medical, Education, Irrigation & Flood Control, NHIDCL, BRO and others have been directed to remain on high alert with field staff stationed at headquarters to provide immediate assistance. In case of school closures due to adverse weather, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) have been asked to inform the Deputy Commissioner at least a day in advance.

Tehsildars have been instructed to immediately report any loss of life or property caused by weather conditions.

The District Control Room at DC Office Kishtwar will remain functional round-the-clock for emergency response. The public has been asked to contact the District Control Room at 9484217492 / 01995-259555, Police Control Room at 9906154100, or the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) at 112 in case of any emergency. (JKNS)
