Srinagar, Aug 23 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has moved to take over the functioning of schools earlier linked with Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), assuring that the education of nearly 50,000 enrolled students will remain unaffected.

Officials told the news agency JKNS, that the decision is aimed at strengthening facilities and ensuring uniform standards of quality education, while dismissing what they termed as “false propaganda” designed to create confusion.

According to government sources, the step has been taken purely in the interest of students. “There will be no disruption in their education. Like other government and private schools, students will continue their studies smoothly, but this time with improved support and infrastructure,” an official told JKNS.

Authorities explained that students of these schools had been facing hurdles in routine processes like filling annual examination forms. To address these concerns, the government directed that each of the institutions will now be supervised by the nearest government school principal or headmaster.

“Students will not suffer—rather, they will benefit in the long run. The intent is to safeguard their future and bring uniformity in the quality of education across Jammu and Kashmir,” the official added.

An order issued Friday evening by the School Education Department confirmed that a committee will soon be set up to oversee the process and ensure smooth functioning. The government has assured that teachers, infrastructure, and academic activities will continue without interruption, while students will gain access to the same facilities and opportunities available elsewhere in the Union Territory.

Officials stressed that any confusion being circulated around the move is “nothing more than propaganda.” The decision, they reiterated, is meant to protect students’ interests and secure their academic future. (JKNS)
