MOSCOW – Russian air defense forces have destroyed and intercepted 54 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over multiple regions in Russia, according to a statement from the Defense Ministry. The large-scale drone attack occurred overnight between August 21 and August 22, 2025.
According to the ministry’s report, the Ukrainian drones, described as airplane-type UAVs, were intercepted by on-duty air defense systems. The attack targeted several regions, with the highest concentration of drones over the Bryansk region, where 19 were destroyed, reports said
The Defense Ministry did not report any casualties from the attacks. The incident is the latest in a series of frequent drone assaults by Ukraine on targets deep inside Russian territory, often aimed at military and energy infrastructure.
