New York – Inter Miami is set to face Tigres in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals with a significant boost, as both Lionel Messi and recent marquee signing Rodrigo De Paul are expected to be back in the starting lineup. The highly anticipated match, scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, at Chase Stadium, will see two of the tournament’s most star-studded clubs compete for a spot in the semifinals.
Messi, who had been dealing with a hamstring injury, made a decisive return in a recent league match against the LA Galaxy, scoring and assisting in a 3-1 victory. While he has been managing his recovery, he is expected to be fit to start against Tigres.
De Paul, who joined Inter Miami from Atlético Madrid, is also in line to start after resolving recent visa issues. His presence alongside his Argentine compatriot Messi will be a major addition to the midfield.
Manager Javier Mascherano is expected to field his strongest possible team, with a predicted lineup that includes the likes of Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets. The winner of this quarterfinal will be considered a favorite to win the Leagues Cup trophy. (ATP)
