Public Cautioned to Stay Away from Slopes, Water Bodies Amid Weather Alert

Srinagar, Aug 18 (JKNS): Authorities in Srinagar on Monday issued a weather advisory in view of the forecast of intense rain, thundershowers, cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides in parts of Kashmir Division, including Srinagar, from August 18 to 19.

According to the advisory issued by the District Magistrate Srinagar, as per news agency JKNS, people have been cautioned against venturing near slopes and water bodies, particularly in areas like Fakir Gujri, Khonmoh and adjoining belts, until the weather improves.

The order further directed that tourists, local shikara wallas, and sand miners should not attempt to cross the Jhelum or its tributaries without verifying the prevailing conditions.

For assistance and emergency information, the public has been asked to contact the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) Srinagar at 0194-2457543, 0194-2483651, 0194-2457552, or via WhatsApp at 9103998355/356/357. People can also reach the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) at 112 and the Police Control Room Srinagar at 01942477567.

The advisory has been circulated among all line departments, SDRF, NDRF, and municipal and police authorities for strict compliance and necessary action. (JKNS)
