Srinagar, Aug 6 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday ordered the forfeiture of 25 books for allegedly propagating false narratives and secessionist ideology, which officials said pose a serious threat to the sovereignty and integrity of India.

As per a notification accessed by news agency JKNS, the administration stated that credible intelligence inputs and investigations revealed that the circulation of such literature has been a significant driver behind youth radicalization, glorification of terrorism, and incitement of violence in the region.

“These books distort historical facts, glorify terrorists, vilify security forces, promote religious radicalization, and incite alienation among the youth,” the notification reads, adding that they “play a critical role in misguiding youth and fostering a culture of grievance, victimhood, and terrorist heroism.”

The identified publications have been declared forfeited under Section 98 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, as they fall under the ambit of Sections 152, 196, and 197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the order stated.

Authorities have directed that copies of these books, along with any related documents, be seized immediately in compliance with the order. (JKNS)
