Srinagar, June 19 (JKNS): The Office of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on Thursday said that the CM has taken note of concerns raised by students evacuated from conflict-hit Iran regarding transport arrangements from Delhi to J&K, and has directed officials to ensure deluxe buses are arranged for their journey home.

In a post on X, the Office of the J&K CM, as per news agency JKNS, wrote: “The Chief Minister has taken note of the request of the students evacuated from Iran regarding the quality of buses arranged to transport them from Delhi to J&K. The Resident Commissioner has been tasked with coordinating with the JKRTC to ensure proper deluxe buses are arranged.”

The post further said: “94 of our students evacuated from Iran have safely reached Delhi. The Government is making transport arrangements to ensure their smooth journey home, which will be in place within the next few hours.”

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Students Association National Convenor, Nasir Khuehami, also confirmed that the flight carrying Kashmiri students landed in Delhi earlier this morning. However, he said that Kashmiri students were not provided airport transportation, unlike students from other states.

“They are being asked to travel in SRTC buses. They are exhausted after travelling continuously for the past four days. This is deeply disappointing. We request immediate intervention,” Khuehami stated.

He added that while the majority of students are trying to return by air, most flights are sold out. “We have raised the matter with the Chief Minister’s Office. The CM’s advisor, Nasir Aslam Wani Sahab, is looking into it. We’re awaiting a final response,” Khuehami said.

He further informed that the CM’s Office is in constant touch with the Resident Commissioner, who has been instructed to ensure sleeper buses are arranged for the students. (JKNS)
