Heatwave Continues Across J&K; Srinagar Records 32.4°C, Jammu 43.6°C

Srinagar, Jun 13 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir continues to experience high day temperatures, with most places recording above-normal maximums as the prevailing heatwave shows no signs of immediate relief as Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 32.4°C.

Data compiled by Kashmir Weather as per news agency JKNS stated, Srinagar recorded a maximum of 32.4°C on Friday, which is 4.4°C above the seasonal average. Qazigund registered 32.8°C (6.1°C above normal), while Pahalgam and Kokernag recorded 28.2°C and 33.2°C respectively. Kokernag remained the hottest in Kashmir division, with temperatures 7°C above normal.

Kupwara touched 31.9°C (3.7°C above normal), and Gulmarg, the famed hill station, recorded 23.0°C 4.2°C above normal.

In the Jammu region, intense heat continued to grip the plains with Jammu city recording a scorching 43.6°C, which is 4.8°C higher than the average. Katra followed with 39.5°C, while Batote, Bhaderwah, and Banihal recorded 31.6°C, 30.8°C, and 31.8°C respectively all significantly above their normal ranges.

In the Union Territory of Ladakh, Leh recorded a maximum of 27.0°C, which is 3.5°C above normal, while temperature data from Kargil remained unavailable. (JKNS)
