According to the notice a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS reads, the violations include rash and negligent driving, performing stunts on public roads, riding without helmets, triple riding, underage driving, use of modified silencers, and HSRP number plate tampering or masking.

“These activities not only endanger the lives of riders but also pose a serious threat to pedestrians and other road users,” the notice reads.

The ARTO has made it clear that all such violations are punishable under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and strict action will be taken. This includes suspension or cancellation of driving licenses and registration certificates, criminal cases, imposition of fines, and even lodging of FIRs. Legal action will also be taken against guardians or vehicle owners in cases of underage driving.

Petrol pump owners have been specifically directed not to refuel vehicles whose riders are not wearing helmets or have tampered HSRP plates. Any such cases should be reported to ARTO Kishtwar or local law enforcement agencies.

The notice also urged the public to cooperate by reporting such violations to ensure safer roads. The identity of informants will remain confidential.

Contact numbers provided for reporting are, Tasleem Javaid (ARTO Kishtwar), 7006151190. Robin Parihar (MVI, ARTO Office Kishtwar), 9622267161.

The ARTO has requested collective responsibility to make Kishtwar roads safer for everyone. (JKNS)
