Cracker Ban Imposed in Densely Populated Areas of Baramulla Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

Baramulla, June 2 (JKNS): Authorities in Baramulla have issued an official order prohibiting the bursting of fireworks and crackers in densely populated areas of the district from June 6 to June 9, 2025, in view of Eid-ul-Azha celebrations.

According to Order issued by District Magistrate Minga Sherpa (IAS) a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, the move comes in response to a request made by the General Secretary of Auqaf Islamia Khanpora Baramulla. The application cited health hazards, environmental concerns, and the risk of fire incidents due to firecracker usage, especially in the Khanpora area of Baramulla town.

“Whereas, General Secretary, Auqaf Islamia Khanpora Baramulla through medium of an application has requested for prohibition of bursting of fireworks/ crackers in densely populated areas of Baramulla town especially in Khanpora area on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha as the said activity is hazardous to health, environment and may cause fire incidents;

Whereas, the concerns raised in the application were looked into and were considered for taking necessary action in the matter to avoid adverse impact on health, environment and to safeguard the life and property;

Now, therefore I, Minga Sherpa (IAS), District Magistrate, Baramulla, in exercise of the powers vested in me under section 163 BNSS hereby prohibit bursting of fire works/crackers by any individual(s) in and around the densely populated areas of District Baramulla w.e.f 06-06-2025 to 09-06-2025.

All the Executive Magistrates and the District Police shall ensure the implementation of this order in letter and spirit. Further, they shall take strict action against the violators, if any, as per the provisions of law.” (JKNS)
