SRINAGAR, MAY 31: With Srinagar’s air quality high on the agenda, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Dr. Owais Ahmed led a comprehensive review meeting today at the SMC headquarters to take stock of the city’s progress under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP).
The meeting focused on finalizing the slate of projects planned for the 2025–2026 financial year under NCAP. While acknowledging the meaningful progress made so far, Dr. Owais pointed out the areas that still need attention to ensure tangible improvements in air quality.
“Clean air isn’t just a goal — it’s a necessity,” Dr. Owais said, adding “We have a shared responsibility to ensure our citizens breathe air that is safe and healthy. This requires teamwork, urgency, and smarter ways of working.”
Dr. Owais urged departments to accelerate current projects, improve coordination, and cut down red tape. Emphasizing the importance of openness and accountability, he called on officials to make the process smoother and more transparent for everyone involved.
The meeting ended with a collective resolve from all present to double down on efforts, push projects forward, and stay committed to building a cleaner, healthier Srinagar for the generations to come.
