Shopian: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta conducted an extensive tour of Zainapora on Friday to take firsthand appraisal of civic amenities, market regulation and ongoing developmental activities in the area.
During the visit, DC carried out a thorough inspection of the Zainapora main market, interacting with shopkeepers, traders and the general public.
The visit focused on monitoring the availability of essential commodities, quality control, adherence to government-notified price lists and sanitation standards in the market.
On-spot directions were issued to the SDM Zainapora and concerned officers to maintain cleanliness and ensure strict compliance with market regulations to safeguard consumer interests.
Later, DC visited a prominent high-density apple orchard at Wandina Zainapora where he reviewed the implementation of modern horticultural practices under the high-density plantation scheme being promoted by the government to boost the region’s apple production and improve growers’ income.
While interacting with orchardists and field officers from the Horticulture Department, DC emphasized the importance of adopting scientific techniques, including integrated pest management, efficient irrigation systems and timely nutrient application.
DC also visited Government Higher Secondary School, Zainapora and Indoor Stadium Zainapora and took stock of the educational and sports facilities being provided to the school children and stressed for providing best education to them.
DC also took stock of grievances and demands projected by the locals, and directed the concerned departments to resolve genuine issues in a time-bound manner.
DC was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, SDM, Zainapora, Ex. Engineer R&B and other concerned officers.
