Nahan: A case of suicide by a Class 10 student has come to light in Salani Katola Panchayat under Nahan Assembly constituency of Himachal Pradesh.
According to the information received, the daughter of Joginder Singh, who works as a labourer, hanged herself by tying the dupatta of her uniform to a hook on the roof of the house.
The deceased student was a resident of Dungakhala village of Salani Katol Panchayat. The student was the third among her siblings.
It is being told that there was some argument with the teacher regarding studies in the school which the student took offense to. This incident happened on Tuesday afternoon. The student used to come home by bus every day after school, but on that day, she walked home.
On reaching home at around 4 pm, the student neither drank water nor changed her school dress and went straight to her room. As soon as the student entered the room, she closed the latch of the middle door. Her five-year-old younger sister was also sleeping in this room.
The student’s mother had gone away from home to fetch water at that time. There was no one else in the house except the younger sister. When the deceased student’s mother reached home with water, the sound of the youngest daughter crying was coming from the room.
When the mother tried to open the door, it was locked. By then other members of the family had also reached there. When the family members asked the younger daughter to open the latch, the younger daughter opened the locked door with great difficulty.
Seeing the scene inside the room, the mother and other family members lost their senses and there was screaming and crying in the house.
The girl hanging from her dupatta was immediately taken down and a local doctor was called to the spot. When the doctor reached the spot and checked the girl’s pulse, she was already dead. The information was given to Kala Amb police station. After receiving the information, the police reached the spot at 10:00 pm.
The police took the body into custody and also recorded the details and statements of the entire incident. The body of the deceased student was brought to Nahan Medical College around 1:30 in the night. According to the information received from the police, the post-mortem of the deceased was conducted on Wednesday, May 21.
The police have registered a case against the school management and started further action. The head of Salani Katola Panchayat, Anita Devi, has expressed deep sorrow and her condolences over this incident.
District Sirmaur SP Nischint Singh Negi said that the postmortem of the deceased student is being conducted at Nahan Medical College. The matter is being investigated. Information about the entire case will be given after the postmortem report and investigation.
