New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded the security forces for eliminating 27 Naxals in an encounter in Chhattisgarh and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicate the menace of Naxalism and ensure a life of peace and progress for the people.

Reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s post on X, Modi said, “We are proud of our forces for this momentous success. Our government is committed to eradicating the menace of Maoism and ensuring a life of peace and progress for the people.

Describing the killing of 27 dreaded insurgents in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur as a “historic achievement” in the fight to eliminate Naxalism, Shah had said the government was determined to eliminate Naxalism before March 31 next year.

At least 27 Naxals were killed and several others injured in an encounter with security forces in four different districts of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, police said. A soldier was also killed and another injured during the encounter.
