Saharanpur Railway Station Redeveloped Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

Saharanpur: Saharanpur Railway Station, located on the Amritsar Howrah and Delhi Dehradun rail lines in Uttar Pradesh, has been redeveloped and modernized under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

This station, situated in the Saharanpur district known for its sugarcane production and industrial goods, is now equipped with modern amenities aimed at elevating passenger experience.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, launched to transform and revitalize 1309 railway stations across the country, saw its foundation stone laid by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on February 26, 2024, for 553 stations. These redeveloped stations boast modern passenger amenities such as roof plazas, beautiful landscaping, intermodal connectivity, improved façades, kids’ play areas, kiosks, food courts, and are designed to be both environment and Divyang friendly. The designs are inspired by local culture, heritage, and architecture.

Under the scheme, the following upgrades were completed at Saharanpur station, Renovation of AC waiting room. Renovation of UTS and PRS Halls. Renovation of the waiting hall and 3 retiring rooms. Renovation of 4 toilets (including 3 from retiring rooms and 1 in AC waiting room). Redevelopment of circulating areas with wider roads and pathways (8531 sqm). New entry/exit gates for smoother passenger movement.

Development of parking areas (3383.5 sqm). Addition of entrance porch. Tactile pathways for Divyangjan. Two booking windows and two dedicated parking spaces for Divyangjan. Installation of intuitive signages. Renovation of the executive lounge. Platform surface improvement on PF-4. Installation of single-line and multiline display boards

Provision of new furniture including 56 steel benches, 130 cushioned chairs, 25 executive tables, and 7 sofa sets

Before and after images of the station highlight a striking transformation aligned with Indian Railways’ vision for world-class infrastructure.

As part of the same initiative, Meerut City, Modinagar, Muzaffarnagar, and Roorkee stations are also slated for redevelopment like Saharanpur. The scheme underscores Indian Railways’ dedication to offering enhanced accessibility, safety, and comfort to millions of commuters nationwide.
