Doda: The District Administration Doda on Tuesday clarified that a routine dispute resolution and demarcation-cum-retrieval of State land was wrongly portrayed by a social media news portal as a demolition drive.

In a statement issued to the news agency JKNS, the administration said the portal had falsely linked the action to the residence of an elected representative, who himself made “unwarranted posts without verifying facts or consulting any responsible revenue official at the district level.”

The administration further stated that the drive was undertaken to address a long-pending land dispute, which, if left unresolved, had the potential to turn into a law and order issue.

“The public has been misguided in this entire episode,” the statement said, urging media platforms and individuals to verify facts before sharing information online.

“It is strongly advised to all to verify the facts first and then only post anything on social media as a responsible media group or representative,” it added.—(JKNS)
