Traffic Resumes on Sonmarg-Leh Road After 3-Days of Closure

Srinagar, Apr 21 (JKNS): Authorities on Monday allowed traffic movement on the Sonmarg-Leh highway after it remained closed for three consecutive days due to adverse weather conditions.

An official told news agency JKNS that the road was reopened after clearance from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which inspected and confirmed the route was safe for travel.

“Traffic has been released from Sonmarg towards Kargil/Leh as per the issued advisory,” the official said.

The road had been shut due to heavy snowfall and landslides triggered by continuous bad weather in the higher reaches of the region. (JKNS)
