All Party meet resolves to move SC if needed on Centre refusing assent to NEET exemption Bill

Chennai: An Party meeting convened by the ruling DMK on Wednesday evening resolved to file a fresh petition in the Supreme Court, if needed, against the Centre refusing to give its assent to the Bill adopted in the State Assembly seeking to exempt TN from the purview of NEET exams.

The resolution moved by Chief Minister M K Stalin, who presided over the meeting at the State Secretariat, was adopted unanimously.

The meeting was boycotted by the main Opposition AIADMK and the BJP. The resolution said in the wake of the President refusing to give assent for the Bill passed in the state Assembly, the meeting unanimously decided to carry forward the legal battle to get the exemption.

Apart from expediting the case filed by the Tamil Nadu government in the Apex Court in

July 2023 against NEET, it was also decided that if needed, a fresh case would be filed

in the Supreme Court against the Centre’s refusal to give assent to the NEET exemption

Bill after holding consultations with legal experts.
