Jammu: Uproar rocked the J&K Assembly on Monday after the Speaker disallowed a discussion on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025, citing its sub-judice status.
Speaking in the House, as per news agency JKNS, the Speaker said the matter has been challenged in the Supreme Court and cannot be debated.
The remarks came after NC MLA Tanvir Sadiq demanded a discussion on the bill, arguing that if the GST law brought by the Centre was discussed in the J&K Assembly, the Waqf bill should be too.
His demand was backed by Congress and PDP legislators, tried to storm the Well of the House, but were stopped by Marshals.
As the chaos continued, the Speaker adjourned the session for 15 minutes the first such adjournment during the ongoing budget session. (JKNS)
